update on ‘watch’

‘watch’ has been selected to be screened at the Szczecin European Film Festival in October and in the UK Jewish Film Festival in November.

Screen Shot 1

Here is an extract from a group poem written as a response to the film by participants in a Masterclass I led at the England Centre for Practice Development, Canterbury Christ Church University –

1

The film stirs fallen leaves in my heart,

kicks up dust and the smell of damp earth.

Its precious possession is a crystal,

a liquid wave of drifting memories

splashing through my wet fingers

and then gone.

The secret of this film

is that all memory is this way,

small wafts of smoke

that vanish as they arise.

The miracle is

that we remember

2

The film has a jewelled mechanism

at its heart. Tick tock tick tock.

It speaks of love and loss

and tears and laughter,

in short of life

3

understanding of love and closeness

that I will always long for

an understanding of how people

are beautiful. always
